Today, there are over 10,200 churches worldwide using the Awana program to reach boys and
girls with the good news of Jesus.
The word Awana stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from 2 Timothy 2:15. "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Awana is a Bible-based program designed "to help churches clearly and consistently communicate the good news of Christ and His plan for their lives, as expressed in His Word and to build a biblical foundation that helps them follow Christ through adulthood." In Awana, children and youth memorize bible verses and complete exercises, play fun games, sing songs, and receive prizes for their accomplishments. In the Trek and Journey levels, leadership training is emphasized as well. |
